Here are the the pictures after the third month:
The reason why I don’t consider this as a phase 3 picture is because I stopped watching the P90X videos for the passed month and instead just consistently worked out at 24 Hour Fitness. I wanted to see if I can improve just by hitting the gym. Comparing the phase 2 pic to the 3rd month pic, I know there weren’t really any changes. I worked out about 3 times a week for about 1 hr and a half. Of the hour and a half, 15 minutes of it was used for cardio. The rest was lifting weights.
Like I’ve mentioned before, I started the P90X program not only to get myself back into my workout routine but to also make fitness and nutrition a part of my life. I know I’m passed my 90 days but to be fair, I will dedicate the month of May solely for P90X Phase 3. I’m curious to see if there will be drastic changes.
Anyway, onto the matchup!
P90X
Advantage: each video will definitely get your muscles going but at the same time get your heart pumping. There are barely any breaks in between each workout which is key in increasing your heart rate. One of the biggest advantage is that you have Tony Horton watching you and pushing you to your limit. He will definitely motivate you. Save time driving to the gym. You are forced to stretch and do yoga!
Disadvantage: if you’re like me where you are only using a couple of dumbbells for the workouts, you will be limited in becoming stronger and increasing muscle mass. Also working out in my house for 90 days straight can eventually become boring. Some of the workouts are a little too advanced which can delay progress.
24hr Fitness (gym)
Advantage: all the weights and machines are there at your disposal. I can increase my weights if needed. Seeing other people working out can be a source of motivation. You can choose the workouts that work for you. You are not limited to just the P90X workouts.
Disadvantage: my breaks in between each workout tend to be longer than it should which can affect progress and slow down the heart rate. Without Tony Horton to motivate you, the workouts at the gym tend to end earlier than it should. Driving back and forth from the gym is an extra 30 minutes out of my day. In the passed month, I barely stretched and did not do yoga.
