The next item we have for auction is a signed novel, “HOME: A MEMOIR OF MY EARLY YEARS” signed by author and legendary actress, Julie Andrews. She is known for her role as Mary Poppins and has won numerous awards:
Academy Awards – 1964 Best Actress (Mary Poppins)
Golden Globe Awards – Best Actress: Musical or Comedy
1965 Mary Poppins
1966 The Sound of Music
1983 Victor/Victoria
Screen Actors Guild Awards – Life Achievement Award
2006 Lifetime Achievement
Of all the items Trace and I were able to get signed, this was by far the hardest. The signing took place at Borders in Los Angeles, CA. It was on a weekday so Trace and I had to drive through the crazy LA traffic. Once we got there we found out that the signing was limited to 150 people and we definitely weren’t one of them. On top of that, they only allowed people to take pictures/videos for the first 5 minutes. Even the people who got their books signed don’t even get to take a pic with her. Shady ass publicists!!!! Does D&T give up and just go home? Heeeeyyyyyllllll nawwwww!!!! We had no choice but to fight the system!
Trace, the brain of D&T asked around and found out that the 150 people are given a ticket which allowed them 2 signed novels each. So what do we do? We found someone who was only getting one book signed and asked if they can get our book signed. As the handsome rebel of the couple, I went and found ways to get take pics (and videos) of Julie Andrews without getting caught, and trust me, I came close to getting kicked out!
